These distinguished Shaykhs have their academic roots in Umm al-Qura University, Mecca, focusing on uşül al-fiqh. They devoted a significant decade to the profound insights of al-Sayyid Muhammad b. ‘Alawi al-Mälikī al-Hasanī. In this period, Shaykh Allie acquired from them the esteemed ijāza, permitting him to share knowledge across multiple Islamic domains including figh, ‘ilm al-tawhid, and tasawwuf.

Gaining Wisdom at Al-Azhar Mosque

The grand al-Azhar mosque in Cairo beckoned Shaykh Allie for two enriching years. Here, he engaged with an assembly of today’s leading Islamic scholars such as Shaykh Sa’id Mamdüh, Shaykh ‘Alī Jumu’a, Shaykh Fathi Abd al-Rahmän al-Hijāzī, Shaykh Hasan al-Shāfi’ī, and Shaykh Hishäm Kämil. These interactions led to Shaykh Allie receiving their blessings and ijāza to share traditional Islamic texts.

Shaykh Allie Khalfe’s Academic Pursuits

Shaykh Allie is on the path to completing his Masters in Islamic Studies, concentrating on theology, at UNISA. He’s the visionary behind The IslamicText Institute, located in Surrey Estate, Cape Town. His expertise is also shared at esteemed institutions like the International Peace College of South Africa (IPSA) and the Madina Institute. Recognising his profound knowledge, Dār al-Iftā al-Mişriyya in Egypt has endorsed him as an ambassador.

Engagements with Eminent Scholars

Under the mentorship of luminaries like Shaykh Seraj Hendricks and Shaykh Ahmad Hendricks, Shaykh Allie Khalfe received the esteemed ijāza, empowering him to transmit a range of Islamic teachings such as Fiqh, Aqida, and Tassawuf.

At the Islamic Text Cape Town Institute, which he founded, Shaykh Allie imparts teachings from seminal texts like Imam Laqqani al-Maliki’s “Jawhara Al-Tawhid”, Shafi’i fiqh, and Imam al-Ghazali’s “Ihya ‘Ulum al-Din”. He further enlightens students at the Madina Institute with teachings from “Beginning of Guidance” by Imam Al-Ghazali.

His ijāza lineage extends to include luminaries like Shaykh Ali Jumua, Shaykh Ahmad bin Muhammad bin ‘Alawi al-Maliki, and Habib ‘Ali bin Muhammad bin Ahmad Mash’hur Haddad.

His time at the Azhar Mosque was graced by the presence of the venerable Shaykh Hasan Al-Shafi’i, a stalwart of the Grant Al-Azhar. This octogenarian was the first to applaud Shaykh Allie’s upcoming work, an English commentary on “Al-Jawhara al-Tawhid”.

Moreover, Shaykh Allie spent meaningful time under the tutelage of leading scholars like Shaykh Ali Gomaa, Shaykh Muhammad Fathi Hijazi, and Shaykh Hisham Kamil. Their blessings and ijāza enriched Shaykh Allie’s quest for knowledge.
